Special Olympics

WALT: create an advertisement persuading people to go to the Special Olympics here in Palmerston North. I used ms publisher to create this poster. To make my poster stand our and grab the readers attention I had to make sure that the title stood out. I found this a bit challenging because I was going backwards and forwards trying lots of different colours. Something i enjoyed was choosing the colours to use. Something intersting I learnt about advertising for the Special Olympics was looking at the different sports they play.

A Chinese Celebration on PhotoPeach



This is a photo peach on our classes Chinese celebration!!
i enjoyed most using swords in the dance.
The hardest thing for me was having to wait for our turn on the night.

Chinese Celebrations

Walt:Follow an inquiry process.
This term as we have been learning about China, we have continued building on the inquiry skills we lernt in Term 2.we brainstormed open questions as a class and then delegated these out to pairs.The part of china Dan,Luke and I were finding out more about was there Celebrations. we found our information in books and on the internet. we used a data chart to make sure we triangulated all our information so we knew it was true. we then used movie maker to present our inquiry. something i enjoyed was filming our movie. an interesting fact i found out was its not too hard to make a movie. my next learning step in inquiry is to keep up with everyone else.

Walt: find out more about China to help us in our dance preformance.

Last week Cindys dad came to share with us all about China. He gave us mooncake because we are near the time when they celebarate with moon cake. I really enjoyed the part when we got moon cake because it tasted nice.

How are Cultures and Traditions Expressed through dance?

Walt:During week one, we had a variety of learning experiences to tune us into ideas about our big question for this term - how cultures and traditions expressed though dance? We had a performance from the boys high pacifica group,a performance from st peters pacifica group and a drumming workshop. I enjoyed the Drumming workshop the most because I got to make up my own beats. Something new I learnt was the different was I could play it.
